OPF HUB

Free POWER hardware access for open-source developers and researchers porting software to the OpenPOWER architecture.

About the HUB

The HUB Special Interest Group (SIG) provides information, resources, and free hardware access to help developers port their projects to the POWER architecture.

Open to Everyone

HUB resources are available to open-source developers, academic researchers, and student projects. Non-OPF members are welcome to apply.

Community-Driven

Resources are contributed by OpenPOWER Foundation member organizations who donate hardware capacity to grow the POWER software ecosystem.

Multiple Resource Types

Providers offer bare metal machines, virtual machines, FPGAs, and container environments — across POWER8, POWER9, and POWER10 systems.

HUB Providers

Select a provider below to view their available resources and submit an access request.

Oregon State University Open Source Lab

The OSU Open Source Lab is a globally recognized leader in providing hosting for open-source projects. Through the OPF HUB, OSL offers POWER9 and POWER10 bare metal and virtual machine access for open-source projects.

How It Works

Getting access to POWER hardware through the HUB is straightforward.

01

Choose a Provider

Review the two HUB providers above and select the one that best matches your resource requirements — hardware type, OS, and add-ons.

02

Submit a Request

Fill out the HUB Access Request form on the provider's page. You'll need to describe your project and provide an SSH public key.

03

Review & Approval

The HUB SIG reviews your request and the provider provisions your access. Most requests are handled within a few business days.

04

Start Building

Connect to your POWER resource via SSH and start porting or testing your software on real POWER hardware.
